Terms of Service

By accessing or using World Safety Index ("the Platform", "we", "us", or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree with any of these terms, you are prohibited from using or accessing this platform.

World Safety Index provides travel safety intelligence including safety scores, risk assessments, AI-generated advice, and community-sourced information for countries and cities worldwide. The Platform is intended for informational purposes only.

Our services include but are not limited to:

• Country and city safety scores and rankings
• AI-powered travel safety advice and risk reports
• Real-time safety alerts and news analysis
• Community safety reports and forums
• Corporate travel safety API
• Trip planning and risk assessment tools

IMPORTANT: World Safety Index is NOT an official government travel advisory service.

The information provided on this Platform:

• Is generated using AI models and aggregated data sources and may contain errors or inaccuracies
• Should NOT be your sole source of information when making travel decisions
• Does not replace official government travel advisories (e.g. gov.ie, travel.state.gov, gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice)
• May not reflect rapidly changing on-the-ground situations
• Is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind

Always consult your government's official travel advisory and local authorities before travelling to any destination, especially high-risk areas.

All content, features, functionality, design, source code, data compilations, safety scores, scoring methodologies, algorithms, AI models, brand identity, and any derivative works on this Platform are the exclusive intellectual property of World Safety Index and are protected under:

• Irish and EU copyright law (Copyright and Related Rights Act 2000)
• EU Database Rights Directive (96/9/EC) — our compiled database of safety scores, country data, and city data constitutes a protected database under EU law. Extraction or re-utilisation of any substantial part of this database is strictly prohibited.
• Trademark law — "World Safety Index" and associated logos are proprietary marks. Unauthorised use is prohibited.
• International intellectual property treaties including the Berne Convention and TRIPS Agreement.

You are strictly prohibited from:

• Copying, reproducing, scraping, crawling, or replicating any part of our Platform, data, or content — whether manually or through automated means
• Using bots, spiders, scrapers, data mining tools, or any automated system to extract data from the Platform
• Building, training, or improving any competing product, service, or AI model using our data or content
• Reverse engineering, decompiling, or attempting to derive our safety scoring methodology or algorithms
• Redistributing, reselling, sublicensing, or commercially exploiting our data without explicit written agreement
• Framing or mirroring any part of the Platform without prior written consent
• Removing, altering, or obscuring any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices
• Claiming ownership of, or attempting to register, any intellectual property that is confusingly similar to our brand, data, or methodology

Enforcement: We actively monitor for unauthorised use. Violations will result in immediate account termination, blocking of access, and we reserve the right to pursue legal action including injunctions, damages, and recovery of legal costs under applicable Irish, EU, and international law.

Our database and data compilations are protected under the EU Database Rights Directive (96/9/EC). Extracting or re-utilising a substantial part of the contents of our database — even if individual pieces are publicly visible — is a violation of our database rights.

You agree not to:

• Use any automated tool, script, or service to access, collect, or store our data at scale
• Circumvent any technical measures we use to protect our data (including rate limiting, CAPTCHAs, or access controls)
• Access our Platform through means other than the standard browser interface or our official API
• Systematically download or cache our content for redistribution

We reserve the right to block IP addresses, API keys, or user accounts engaged in scraping or abusive data extraction without notice.

Access to our API (including the Corporate Safety API) is subject to the following:

• API access is rate limited and subject to your subscription plan limits
• API data may only be used for your own internal business purposes
• Reselling, redistributing, or sublicensing API data to third parties is strictly prohibited
• You may not use API data to train, fine-tune, or improve any AI or machine learning model
• We reserve the right to suspend API access for abuse, excessive usage, or violations of these terms
• Clear attribution to "World Safety Index" is required whenever our data is displayed publicly

By submitting safety reports, forum posts, reviews, or tips to the Platform, you grant World Safety Index a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, display, and distribute that content.

You agree not to submit content that is:

• False, misleading, or intentionally inaccurate
• Defamatory, hateful, or discriminatory
• In violation of any third party's rights
• Spam or commercially promotional without permission

We reserve the right to remove any user-generated content at our discretion.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WORLD SAFETY INDEX SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

• Any personal injury, death, loss, or damage arising from travel decisions made based on our Platform
• Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
• Any loss of data, revenue, profits, or business opportunities
• Errors or inaccuracies in safety scores or AI-generated content
• Service interruptions or downtime

Your use of this Platform is entirely at your own risk.

Your use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Platform, you consent to the collection and use of your data as described therein. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis. All fees are non-refundable except where required by law. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days notice. You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for:

• Violation of these Terms of Service
• Abusive use of AI features or the API
• Attempts to scrape, copy, or steal Platform data
• Any conduct we deem harmful to the Platform or its users

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Ireland, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ireland.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of significant changes via email or a prominent notice on the Platform. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
